Monmouthshire, Brecon and Abergavenny Canal Location and basic information

The beginning of the navigable Monmouthshire, Brecon and Abergavenny Canal is at Sebastopol  Canal Terminus at Five Locks Basin, just north of Cwmbran - Categories contents are listed from the beginning of the canal, canal branch or canal arm.

Navigable section on narrow canal is just 33 miles long with only 6 locks and a short tunnel. Allow at least one week to explore unspoilt countryside within the Brecon Beacons National Park

Restoration of the old Monmouthshire Canal began in 1994, when Crown Bridge in Sebastopol was raised, to give sufficient height for navigation again. The section to Five locks was restored and now a new basin at the top of the locks marks the end of the navigable section.
