The Stourport Ring Canals - Stourport Ring Guide - Stourport Ring Canal Route
The Midlands Waterway's Stourport Ring Cruise is one of the UK's premier cruising
rings combining lively city shopping and restaurants, world class tourist attractions
and spectacular rural countryside with traditional canalside pubs.
The Stourport Ring Canal Route combines wandering contour and straight-ish
engineered canals as well as a stretch of the River Severn. Cruise your boat
through parts of Worcestershire, West Midlands, Birmingham
City and Metropolitan borough (more miles of canal than Venice!) as well
as the historic 'Black Country'.

Stourport
Ring Route - We would recommend that you take at least two weeks to cruise the
Stourport Ring starting say at Alvechurch travelling clockwise, taking you south
along the Worcester & Birmingham canal, via the breathtaking
flight of 36 locks at Tardebigge to Worcester. Here you’ll find a host
of attractions, including Worcester Cathedral and the Royal Worcester Ceramics
Museum. Continue up the River Severn on to Stourport and than take the Staffordshire
and Worcestershire Canal to the junction with the Stourbridge Canal via the Red
House Glass Cone Visitor Attraction to Stourbridge, continuing on to the Delph
Locks and the Dudley No.1 Canal, joining the Dudley No.2 Canal to the Netherton
Tunnel, Netherton Branch of the Birmingham Canal Navigations (BCN), where with
a slight diversion up the BCN
Main Line you can visit the Black Country Living
Museum and Dudley
Canal Tunnel and Limestone Caverns at Tipton. Next comes the
vibrant city of Birmingham, with its National
Sea Life Centre, close to waterfront museums, galleries, theatres and restaurants,
followed by rejoining the Worcester & Birmingham canal, visiting Bourneville's
Cadbury World.
